6/21/2019: Joule Advisory Board Member Professor Kazunari Domen, from Shinshu University in Japan, selected Will's publication titled "Conversion of Visible Light into Ionic Power Using Photoacid-Dye-Sensitized Bipolar Ion-Exchange Membranes" as one of a few of his favorite catalysis papers from Joule in their Catalysis for Energy Collection. Professor Domen said that "This research converts visible light energy to ionic power using bipolar ion-exchange membranes. The authors significantly improve on their previous work of photovoltaic action of hydrated ion-exchange membrane by using bipolar membrane structure. Although they suggest application to direct solar desalination of saltwater, the principle also has other potential applications for energy conversion." Congratulations, Will!
