This sandfly carries the parasite Leishmania donovani as a promastigote, responsible for infections in humans. The semi-synthetic 6′-hydroxysisomicin is shown bound to the A-site of the protozoal RNA, thus interfering with the protein synthesis machinery. For more details, see the Full Paper.
