The internship is available for an immediate start date as a part-time opportunity during the semester, with increased hours starting during the summer.  The start date is flexible.  Students who cannot start until summer will also be considered.

Please provide a brief overview of your organization's mission and services: Captek Softgel International, Inc. (CSI) is a privately-owned, FDA registered and audited, GMP-certified, full service contract manufacturer of custom dietary supplement formulations.  CSI features high efficiency encapsulation lines operating 24/5, capable of producing over 3 billion softgels annually. The facility encompasses approximately 85,000 square feet of production, analytical laboratory, pilot laboratory and warehousing space. Captek fully complies to FDA cGMP’s and has been independently certified by NSF International.
 
Describe what role(s) an intern will play in your organization's daily activities: Perform lab test and prepare lab-scale formulations of nutritional softgel capsule fills and shell materials.  With the direction of a Scientist, work with R&D to scale up new processes into softgel capsule manufacturing.  Preform physical property testing of polymer materials and softgel capsules.

How much time do you expect your interns to commit each quarter?: <20 hours per week.
Work Hours/Days: (Weekend Possible?)  Weekdays only, with flexible hours.

• Minimum Total UCI GPA: 2.8
• Must be a chemistry major at UCI at time of application and initial start of internship
• Knowledge of basic lab techniques, such as mixing, weighing, transferring, and working with lab equipment.  Good mechanical ability helpful.
