The ChemUNITY Peer Mentorship Program, previously known as the Chemistry Peer Mentoring Program, is a grad-to-grad volunteer-based mentoring program where two graduate students (one in their second-year and one post-advancement) will be paired with three incoming first-year students to acts as mentors throughout the 2021/2022 year (where the official role ends after the Spring 2022 quarter is completed).

We're excited to be revamping our departmental peer mentorship program and are currently looking for second-year mentors, as well as anyone who is post-advancement to join in and help mentor our new incoming class of graduate students. Our goal is to provide incoming first-year students with a support system as they navigate rotations, coursework, teaching, and simply adjusting to the program.

The time requirements for mentors are as follows:

1. Complete a follow-up mentor evaluation survey after initially signing up.

2. Meet with mentees at least once a quarter for the 2021/2022 academic year.

If you would like to become a ChemUNITY peer mentor, please fill out this survey by September 17th: https://tinyurl.com/ChemUNITYMentor.

Please note that this program is separate from the Chemistry Teaching Assistant Mentorship Program (CTAMP).

If you have further questions about the program or this survey, please email Alissa Matus at matusa@uci.edu.
