Jenny Yang named JACS Senior Editor

Professor Jenny Yang has been named a senior editor at the Journal of the American Chemical Society, the flagship journal of the ACS. With an impact factor of 15.4, JACS reports much of the most impactful and highly cited research in the chemical sciences.

Jenny’s addition to the editorial team at JACS is a great honor for her and the Department of Chemistry at UCI, and is a testimonial to Jenny's high standing in the field. Congratulations to Jenny on this amazing assignment!

Professor Donald R. Blake ranked as 20th Top Ranked Scientist in Environmental Science by Research.com

Professor Blake and his lab have made defining discoveries in the field of atmospheric chemistry.

The prominent academic platform Research.com just released its 2022 edition of the Ranking of Top 1000 Scientists in the area of Environmental Sciences. Among the chosen scientists is UCI Department of Chemistry’s Professor Donald R. Blake, who ranked 20thin the world and 11th in the United States.

"The Department of Chemistry, in the School of Physical Sciences, is ranked ninth in the nation among public universities and 20th overall, with strengths in its Ph.D. programs in organic (sixth among publics) and inorganic chemistry (seventh among publics)."

Professor Don Blake to receive the Tolman Medal

Professor Don Blake will be this year’s recipient of the Tolman Medal. “The Tolman Medal is awarded each year by the Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society in recognition of outstanding contributions to chemistry. These contributions may include achievements in fundamental studies; achievements in chemical technology; significant contributions to chemical education; or outstanding leadership in science on a national level. The nominee need not be a Southern California resident; however, most of the award-related accomplishments must have been made in this area.”

Dr. Phil Dennison - Instructor of the Month

2022 Feb Phil Dennison (Physical Sciences) - Each year, Dr. Dennison trains over 150 new users of his facility in the instrumentation, the principles and the applications of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR.spectroscopy). Congratulations Phil!
